The bar has been raised by this new Berwin Mexican restaurant, Gudino's. Don't be fooled - this location in a small strip mall is under new management (signage changing asap), family-owned with delicious family recipes. The venue may look like a "hole in the wall" (which I find are the best places to find unique or authentic food) and I'm here to tell you that my meal was amazing. Yes, they have take-out favorites like burritos, tacos, and tortas. I was seated and had enchiladas from the plated meals, but with a modification I requested thay the chef prepared to perfection! They don't have a thousand variations as you often see on 10 page menus of other Mexican restaurants, but rather focus on perhaps a dozen or so family-recipe specialities that level-up Gudino's to a selection considerably above the neighborhood taco joint. I can't wait to get back to try some of these dishes, or one of the daily special specialities they mentioned on the chalk board. I WILL BE BACK SOON: I think I found my new favorite Mexican place in Chicagoland. Oh, and there is free parking! Please try these folks out- they are still ramping up and need to get some buzz . I don't usually gush like this, but I think y'all will be impressed. So many good places closed over Covid, but here is something new and quality we can encourage by ordering a good meal and sharing recommendations.
